Ok, so even if the sun isn’t shining quite as brightly as a few weeks ago, that’s no excuse to revert back into winter hibernation. Stranger’s been uncovering what’s on in the wild Southwest and bringing the best to you...

The Adventure Centre, LustyGlaze

Tally ho...Lately there isn’t a beach in the county that doesn’t have a surf school of some kind, go down to LustyGlaze beach though and you can expect a whole lot more than surf 101.

Coasteering, one of the more courageous activities, involves a hearty mixture of cliff climbing, scrambling, sea swimming and cliff jumping, but if you’re more of a land lover then stick around. The adventure team have obviously spent a good few winters hatching adrenalin packed plans to keep us entertained all summer long, with cliff and land based trials suitable for even the most extreme thrill seekers.

These include The Postman’s Wire Walk and a Snakes and Ladders obstacle course, which runs up the cliff. Options for getting back down include the Tension Diagonal – an accelerated
abseil which hurtles you to the ground – or the slightly less
dramatic, but just as much fun, zip wire across the beach.

Fresh activities for this year also include Kite Boarding and Mountain biking. Once you’ve ticked everything off your wish list and planted you feet firmly back on the ground why not round off the day with a massage or a bite to eat in the scrumptious beach restaurant? Blokarting, SpeedSail, Hayle

ImageStrap yourself in and prepare for the ride of your life – Blokarting has arrived. A cross between a go-kart and a yacht, these little beauties are perfect for just about anyone.

Reaching speeds of up to 90mph, the only added ingredient needed is wind power, which lets face it, will not be much of a problem in Kernow. The pros at Speed Sail UK assure us that it’s really very easy to pick up and as safe as houses. Check them out at www.speedsailuk.com

The Port Eliot Lit Fest 20th – 22nd July, St Germans

Nice tentIf you’d rather while away a summer's day in a more relaxing fashion then you might prefer the Port Eliot Lit Festival. We all know about the fantastic setting and the famous authors but the Lit Fest is gaining a reputation for the top notch catering alone. Once you have eaten your own body weight in local ice cream, cakes and cheese, the festival has a packed schedule of music and talks. This year the festival is boasting the likes of cult surfing writer Andy Martin, dishing the dirt on the rivalry between big wave surfers.

Jamie Briswick a writer and photographer from California, will be guiding us through his book, Have Board, Will Travel: The Definitive History of Surf, Skate, and Snow, which explores the evolution of board sports. And if that still leaves you with a few hours to kill, why not drop by the Stranger chill out area for a drink and a flick through the mag? Visit the website for more info www.porteliotlitfest.com

Wild Works, Dolcoath Mine 13th July – 4th August

Wild WorksAfter performances throughout France and the UK, Wild Works return to Cornwall for what is tipped to be a spectacular al fresco performance.

The latest show is based on Opheus, the story of a man who risks everything to bring his true love back from the clutches of Hades. And not just any old Hades. Former locations for the story include a department store, a castle and a convent.

The Cornish setting will not disappoint either, starting at Dolcoath’s disused Mine and culminating at South Crofty.
The only other Cornish venue that could pull off such a decent impression of hell is a supermarket during holiday season.
