AmyStranger has just spoken to the organisers of the Eden Sessions regarding the Amy Winehouse gig tonight. Will she or won’t she turn up?

La Winehouse now has a well-publicised history of cancelling gigs at the last minute – so much so that William Hill are currently taking bets on whether the singer will show up in Cornwall tonight (offering odds of 1/2 that she will).

So, according to Eden's press department, the word on tonight’s show is:

"As it stands, the gig is still going ahead as scheduled."

Amy hasn’t arrived on site yet, but organisers remain confident that she’ll be there in good time.

Keep checking back, as Stranger will provide a final update at 5pm tonight.

UPDATE (17:00):
Amy is currently on site and doing a soundcheck...surely the gig can't not go ahead now?! Best keep her away from the bar, eh?

In other Winehouse news, Back To Black was today nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. The full list is:

  • Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
  • Klaxons - Myths Of The Near Future
  • Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
  • Maps - We Can Create
  • The View - Hats Off To The Buskers
  • Jamie T - Panic Prevention
  • Dizzee Rascal - Maths & English
  • Bat For Lashes - Fur And Gold
  • Young Knives - Voices of Animals And Men
  • Fionn Regan - The End Of History
  • New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom
  • Basquiat Strings - Basquiat Strings

For what it's worth, our money's on Bat For Lashes. Mind you, Basquiat Strings features Seb Rochford - a man who should (if there's any justice) be in with more than a quiet shout to get his hands on the prize. The winner will be announced in September.
