Newquay, 4 - 10 August
It used to be all about a surf contest, and a ruddy big one at that. But now, while the $110,000 5-star World Qualifying event still takes centre stage on Fistral beach, the $20,000 Vans Summer Sessions skate contest, the Unleashed music festival, the street skating competition, the Beach Sessions and general hanging out in the sun (hopefully!), have all merged to make the Rip Curl Boardmasters one of the most fun-packed weeks of the year.
As always, the beach will be packed with bars, shops and exhibition skaters throughout the week of 4-10 August with live music on the beach during the day and in the evening as the sun goes down. To finish off the weekend in style, the party moves to Watergate Bay where Unleashed headliners Groove Armada will be sure to have you dancing in the dunes on the Friday night. There’s a whole host of other bands playing on the main stage from Natty to Audio Bullys to The Pigeon Detectives (plus more to be announced shortly – watch this space). This year also features an extra stage featuring the likes of Mystery Jets and Gallows, as well as a whole stage dedicated to some of the best local bands.
![]() Watergate Bay We’ve got two pairs of VIP weekend tickets for the Unleashed festival on 8-9 August up for grabs.
