The News - Ear to the Ground

CultivateFancy giving something back? Cultivate, a first-of-its-kind cultural approach, is looking for new team members to help activate creative cultural thinking in Cornwall’s communities.

Focusing on six areas in its pilot phase, Cultivate is all about giving young people the chance to interact with their communities, working together to come up with new and exciting ideas for cultural activities and events, from promoting rural theatre and making films to putting on festivals.

"We’re trying to get people to look at contemporary culture from a different perspective,” explains Tamzyn Smith, Cultivate’s developmental manager, getting young people involved in creating it from the ground up. We want them to feel excited about their community, so that working together they can build new, unique ideas and concepts that will reflect their interests, wants and needs. It’s a real opportunity for Cornwall to move forward in creating strong and inclusive cultural communities.”

Currently recruiting for five of the areas, Caradon Hill, Wadebridge, Newquay, Downderry and Lostwithiel, Cultivate are looking for ‘cultivators’, individuals assigned to each project who can coordinate, motivate, inspire and connect with their community to help make sure that the activities happen. The role will include everything from sourcing skills and resources to getting people involved and keeping them excited about their project, working with filmmakers and press officers promoting Cultivate activity to contributing to the Cultivate website.

So, if the thought of getting involved in creating a new and exciting Cultural Cornwall floats your boat, why not drop the team an email and find out more at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ?
