A petition to stop the Government from processing a law restricting people from taking photographs in public places has attracted over 23,000 votes.

The e-petition, which is hosted on the Downing Street website, aims to stop the Prime Minister from introducing a law banning the taking of photographs in public places unless valid ID is held by the photographer. Should the law be passed, it would mean that you could theoretically be arrested for taking photos on a beach, or your street…unless you had ID on you. Which is a bit stupid, really.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that signing the plea will change anything. Indeed, it’s likely that the only outcome could be Tony telling us why the law is a good thing in an even louder voice...

Still, it’s worth a try.
