Costing £90bn the new windfarm is one of nine sites that are being created and will be on a much bigger scale than anything so far in Britain. Sitting between Devon and Cornwall and the south Wales coastline the farm, will be further offshore than previously proposed sites and will provide energy for 900,000 homes, creating upwards of 60,000 jobs. The plans are likely to trigger questions over how investment for the farms will be raised, as well as concerns around the cost of maintaining a power source so far out to sea. Add to that the world famous anti-wind farm attitudes of the Southwest and the winning contractor is sure to have a challenge on their hands. Good luck to them.
