If you're looking for a stylish place to go out to listen to good quality music with a nice crowd of people, Penryn hosts a stylish new(ish) hotspot. Number 20, the wine bar, on Lower Market Street, is fast becoming the local haunt of choice.
Every Tuesday is Cocktail Night - two cocktails for five pounds - and not the cheap stuff! Wednesdays are Quiz Night with a £50 bar tab and other prizes up for grabs. Live music sessions from soulful homegrown artists take place on Thursdays and Saturdays, when the bar bursts out funky tunes provided by excellent DJs. To accompany the evening entertainment they have beers of the world, ciders, cocktails and good wines.
However, if it's a daytime dalliance you're after, they offer free internet access, good coffee, and a range of sumptuous pastries, cookies, snacks and sweet things. So it's an ideal space to surf the net, meet up with friends, or even get some work done.
They're open from 3pm until midnight, 7 days a week. Park in the local car parks, on Saracen Rd or behind Costcutter, then it's a short step down the hill to the bar opposite the clock tower. (Joanna Stevens)
Number 20 is also available as a private venue.
