Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

We all know the honed athletes who plummet down mammoth walls of water for kicks are at least one part insane, but a recent big wave stunt took surf crazy to a whole new level.

Chuck Patterson, a trained ski racer has taken to Jaws on skis, complete with boots, bindings and ski poles, in an attempt to conquer the monster in a way no one has done before.

Watching him carve the surface of the moving mountain as if it’s just an average day out on the slopes is pretty eye popping, but the ease with which he masters a totally different terrain and his confident ski patter belies the intensive 15 month preparation Patterson and other members of the Starr Surf Skis team put in before tackling the beast.

"Gliding into a 40-foot clean, open-faced wave has a lot of the same characteristics that you find when dropping off a cornice into a steep chute with fresh snow," Patterson told the Ski Channel"Aside from the surface being water, it's almost the same feeling. Once you let go of the rope and glide down the face making turns to stay in the pocket, it's totally addicting."

Makes it sound easy, huh? Check out his youtube film for yourself - the mad skills are immediately apparent.

Patterson's next goal? To tuck, like a downhill racer, inside a monstrous Jaws barrel. See? More than just a little bit loco.
