| SOCIAL MEDIA GONE SOUR |

Back at work but bored already? Here's a music video for you to while away some time. It takes social media to a whole new level and kicks ass. Seriously. Brought to you by Japanese band Sour, the interactive music video uses social media to create a user orientated viewing experience. Accordingly to Creative Review, it reflects two big trends in digital creative technology this year - multiple pop-up windows and music videos that pull in individual personal data to create content. Last year, Sour scored a big hit with their Hibi No Niero video which used fans' webcam footage effectively. The new video, for Mirror, goes a step beyond, integrating Facebook, Twitter and viewers' webcams to create a personalised video which draws you in from the outset. They might not be the first band to play with this sort of technology (Arcade Fire did something similar with The Wilderness Downtown) but it's still pretty new and pretty impressive - if you're willing to overlook the frightening reality of just how easily accessible all of our personal information is (we're running scared after checking out Catfish this weekend).
Any how, whatever your stance on the ubiquity of social media, it's well worth checking out. All you have to do is log on to the site and allow connection with your Facebook, Twitter and webcam and then watch as a 'Google search page' appears and gradually begins to transform in front of your very eyes. There are a couple of draw backs, mind. Firstly, it only really works in Safari so you'll need to download the Apple web browser to watch it. Secondly, Sour's Mirror site is temperamental and can take a little while to get going. You might be stuck with a loading bar for a while, but stick with it. You'll be glad you did. Enjoy.
