Following their recently released single 'What News From Cornwall?', Brighton band Super U have been getting a lot of attention from the press and public alike. With unanimous praise towards the latest song and quirky accompanying video, it's about time the group got the nationwide thumbs up.
Super U took a dramatic turn from its initial indie rock sound when former Quantic Soul Orchestra members Mo Batsel and Simon Rees joined them. Now sounding like a charming love match between Camera Obscura and Belle and Sebastian, the band has gone on to work with the likes of Bonobo and Lightspeed Champion. This jump up to success also gave birth to another creative collaboration. Brighton's infamous music video director Steve Glashier, whose portfolio includes artists such as Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip and The Rakes, enjoyed producing their new video.
"There aren't many bands that would have made this video work so well. We were wrapped up by the end of the afternoon having had a really nice day, which I think comes through in the finished video," said Glashier.
Super U claim that their imagination got them this far. The video is a case in point of where creativity takes hold, as the band build and knock down a set in just over two minutes of 35mm filmic quality. (Rachel James)
