Building on the success of The Parabola Project Issue I which came out in 2010, Telltales wants to make issue II even better, profiling the work of literary talent from across the writing spectrum and marrying it with stunning design, eye-popping photography and illustrations. To do this, the group needs to raise an additional £2000 to combine with money generated through sales of issue I. This boosted publishing pot will then cover Parabola’s production costs so that Issue II can pack in even more writers and be distributed further afield. Currently stocked in shops across Cornwall and sold online, it is hoped thatIissue II of Parabola will reach out beyond Cornwall to stockists in Devon, Bristol and London so that new audiences across the country will get a taste for Cornwall’s writing talent , build momentum and continue to drive the creative writing scene forward. To achieve its £2000 target, Telltales has created a film, telling the story of The Parabola Project and plans for Issue II, which is hosted on crowd funding website Wefund; http://www.wefund.co.uk/project/help-get-parabola-project-issue-ii-print Users can log on, watch the film and choose to pledge money to The Parabola Project in exchange for incentives including bespoke designed posters, postcards sets, launch invites and even the chance to get involved in one of the features in the next issue. “The Parabola Project Issue I went down a storm. Our featured writers have been approached by literary agents because of it, our designers have won awards off the back of it and readers have been in touch praising what it is trying to do for the UK's creative writing scene," explains editor and publisher Clare Howdle. "That's when we realised there's a real buzz around Parabola and we should seize on that buzz to turn it into something sensational. We want to make Issue II of the Parabola Project even bigger and better; profiling more writers, reaching out further, offering more to readers and connecting with new communities who could be inspired by what the UK’s contemporary creative writing scene has to offer. But we can’t do it without Wefund. We really hope to get as many people onto our profile as possible and get them pledging so that we can show off just what Cornwall’s creative writing scene has to offer.” The campaign is running for 13 weeks and anyone can show their support of Cornwall’s writing scene by pledging. It’s a simple process and no money gets taken from pledgers until the total £2000 target has been reached. It’s an ambitious campaign from an ambitious bunch of creatives committed to motivating, showcasing and inspiring writers, readers and thinkers everywhere. So what are you waiting for? Get onto wefund and get pledging...
