Coinciding with the Darke Visions Festival - a year-long event to celebrate the life of much-loved Cornish playwright, filmmaker and avid collector of objects washed up by the sea, Nick Darke, who died in 2005 - Telltales are inviting writers to submit a short story, fiction extract, poetry or any other wordplay that fits in with this theme. Getting on the programme couldn't be easier - simply log on to the Telltales website, submit the writing you'd like to read and someone will get in touch to schedule you in. The monthly reading night was launched in October 2008 and is fast building a following from writers across the county. It was set up as a way of developing the writing community in Cornwall and providing a space for writers to read out their work to a receptive audience. From poetry and short stories to novel extracts and scripts, anything goes - it just needs to be written by the reader. To keep things interesting, each monthly event or 'volume' is themed and readers are invited to submit work loosely related to that theme in some way. The next volume of Telltales, Volume VII: Darke Visions, kicks off at 7pm on the 26 May, at Babahogs cafe in Falmouth - you can bring your own alcohol (£1.00 corkage) or drink your fill of the tea, coffee and soft drinks on sale. And if you'd rather use your ears than your mouth, that's fine too - listeners are just as important as readers at Telltales. To find out more or submit a piece to read, log on to www.wordslikepictures/telltales or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
