We're putting out a call to all you creative types to make the most of your abilities and raise some much-needed money for an exciting fundraising campaign, The Red Tape. If you have a talent for photography, design, fashion, film, audio or illustration, then read on!
Why not convert your creativity into cash to help support international HIV and Aids charity AVERT in their work to assist victims and families affected by the disease in Sub-Saharan Africa? You'll also have your work exhibited on a high-profile platform at the same time - plus the opportunity to be featured in a beautiful printed book.
AVERT are a UK-based organisation who arrange and finance community projects in those parts of the world with a high infection rate, particularly areas of Africa and India, to offer education, support and care to those suffering from or affected by the destructive virus.
So Stranger readers, your role is simple - visit The Red Tape website, and whip up a piece of work inspired from the trigger words on the site to illustrate your feelings on the HIV and Aids virus. Alternatively, you could submit an existing piece of work from your portfolio that is relevant.
Your work will then take pride of place in The Red Tape's online gallery where, of course, artist, studio and medium will be credited with a live link to your website. A donation to AVERT will be required in return for uploading your artistic creation, the cost of which will be determined by its position in the gallery (eg £1 for position 1 or £45 for position 45 and so on).
The Red Tape team are aiming for a total of 1,414 works of art to be uploaded if they are to reach their target of £1 million, all of which will be donated to AVERT's worthy cause. The Red Tape team are excited to have already received entries from Ninnette Murk - founder of Designers Against Aids - who recently uploaded the stunning piece 'Bring Safe Sexy Back', and Australian design company Naughtyfish.
So, what are you waiting for? The Red Tape offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work, whilst uniting as a creative industry to fight Aids.
