Photography from a different perspective? Welcome to the world of the fisheye lens.

Lomography cameras have been insulting the boundaries of traditional photography for years now, and their most recent plastic-happy creation was the Fisheye. Of course, the camera is absolutely brilliant, allowing you to view the world from a completely different perspective (that of a goldfish – who said pond life was boring?), and as a result of its success we now have Rumble in the Pond – a retrospective book filled with over 400 circular images taken by the hordes of wholly unprofessional Fisheye converts.

A mötley crüe of poseurs, geeks, abstract luvvies and mini-Martin Parrs who proudly upload their creations to the Lomo website, every photographer here brings a bit of their personal life to the party. As a result, you feel a little like you’re flicking through a collective diary (only, the scribbling has been replaced by warped images instead).

Even if you’re not familiar with Lomo, Rumble in the Pond is still charming, touching and full of distorted fragments from other people’s lives. Seek it out. (Matt Wilkinson)
