Klin WaraWritten and narrated by John Boyle, Klin Warra (meaning Clear Water) is a unique and insightful look at Papua New Guinea.

With some extraordinary camera footage, the film explores the country's main cities and offshore islands, delving deep not just into the water but also the heart of the native tribes who still live an indigenous lifestyle. It shows us traditional practices – from music and dancing to trades, rituals, punishment and death rites.

From clear water rivers in the heart of the jungle to the vast expanse of the ocean, we are offered a glimpse into a world coloured by rare and hypnotic creatures such as the Siphonophore – a hybrid of the jelly fish that can grow up to 40-feet. Hidden amongst the caves and coral are the remnants of World War II vessels and fallen aircraft - a potent reminder of the Japan-Australia conflict off the coast of the capital city, Port Moresby.

If you liked the recent Secrets of the Deep article in Stranger 13, and programmes like Planet Earth, then you’ll get on well with Klin Warra. Impressively shot and honestly put together, it’s another great offering from the boys at Sharkbay. (Lauren Faulkner)
