Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

ANGUS AND JULIA STONE - A BOOK LIKE THIS PDF Print
Reviews - Music

Angus and Julia Stone - A Book Like ThisThe limited edition version of this album gets our vote for CD packaging of the year.  Does it sound any good though?  Hell yeah.

Angus and Julius Stone have always gone out of their way to please. Hence they're one of the few international bands to regularly tour in Cornwall; something we can't help but admire. So when a wonderfully illustrated 16-page book/DVD arrives at our office, cue the fights to see who gets to keep it.

Recent tours have been in support of early EPs, but it's with confidence that the band have chosen to leave these songs off the album.  With the ones they have included, they've created one of the most atmospheric and hypnotic albums you could imagine.

Both Angus and Julia pull the emotional strings with their voices. Julia's in particular sounds like it may crack at any moment. This vulnerability in sound is echoed in the lyrics - the Stones are clearly sensitive souls.

And creative too - as the accompanying DVD shows.  Every video has clearly had a lot of thought go into it, and the resulting mix will baffle as much as it will please.  Imagine Jack and Meg White filmed by The Malloys with the Flaming Lips editing (if you can) and you're somewhere close.  (Tim Hill)
