Chico Mann is a live band experiment, and Papa's got a brand new bag - fusing 1980's electro beats and analogue sounds with Afrobeat rhythms and J.B.'s style syncopated riffs. The result is a more groove heavy Afrobeat, with vocal harmonies punctuated by horn hooks and soaring organ melodies. While Antibalas keep the Fela Afrobeat alive, Chico Mann offer a fresh take on this genre. It sounds as if it were recorded over 30 years ago but was way ahead of its time. Every track is a potential dancefloor bomb - hot foot, get up, get into it and get involved... get a copy. (Nick Radford)

Marcus 'Marquitos' Garcia, member of the Antibalas, offers us a get down raw and dirty Afrobeat laden LP, worthy of the great Fela Kuti himself.
