Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

Reviews - Music

Cornelia - Engine Electronica with fragility, this is one to look forward to. Cornelia's Engine has a release date of 20 October 2008, on the label Ramjac Records.

Imagine a combination of the low dub sounds in Portishead with the quirky peaks and troughs in the electronic-creativity of Bjork. Now imagine a voice as soft as that of Annie Lennox and you have the brilliance that is Cornelia.

Stockholm-born Cornelia is already well known on the Swedish music scene, collaborating with great musicians, programmers and producers to produce this album. Engine has a focus on Cornelia's amazing vocals; this trend towards the singer-led production is fast becoming a tradition with Ramjac.

When you are hearing three layers of sounds infused with segments of improvisation, beautiful melancholic singing from someone who says, "I had these sounds in my head. My main ambition was really just to get them out of there," and atmospheric noises including the Tokyo subway to sounds from outer space, the result is tranquil and evocative. (Joanna Stevens)
