Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

DON CAVALLI - CRYLAND PDF Print
Reviews - Music

Don Cavalli - CrylandEven with the huge resurgence of blues music recently, it's still surprising to hear a Frenchman sing the blues. Luckily Fabrizio Don Cavalli from Paris doesn't sing with an accent.

Not quite as hard hitting and musically challenging as blues can be, the sound of the record harks way back to vintage blues music as sang during the American depression. Think George Clooney's soft ramblings in Brother Where Art Thou.

Don Cavalli does throw a certain unique spin on it, intermingling guitar/bass/drums with some funk and electronic beats and sometimes even venturing into the psychedelic. But it never strays too far from its original recipe. That's not to say it isn't a quality record with some very fine guitar and vocals that somehow sound as they were recorded in the 1930s, adding a touch of romanticism to the sound.

If you like your blues with a lighter touch, then this is for you. (Niki Khoroushi)
