Considering it was the festival’s debut, punters were treated to an impressive line-up, great venues and even a winning menu that sustained many an audience member throughout. Heading up the bill were New Young Pony Club, Kate Nash and Architecture in Helsinki, while Candie Payne tested out her sea legs aboard Bristol’s legendary floating venue, the Thekla. Keeping her cool in a charming early evening performance (despite having a bare-chested fan pogo-ing in front of her throughout the entire set), Candie was joined onstage by Stranger favourite Edgar ‘Jones’ Jones on bass duties. Later that evening at Fiddlers, Kate Nash fans attempted to sing along to her break-neck vocals, and her fun, confident set made the cold trek there and back worthwhile. Best Band Name of the festival went to Ratty Rat Rat, although unfortunately, their faux-ska-grooving failed to live up to the moniker. All in all this was a great budget festival experience – keep an eye on this one for next year!
