Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

JAMES YORKSTON - WHEN THE HAAR ROLLS IN PDF Print
Reviews - Music

James Yorkston - When The Haar Rolls InWhen The Haar Rolls In, Yorkston's fourth album with Domino Records, is a perfect duet to autumn, while his wry tales and poetic lyrics set him apart from all the other magnolia coloured singer/songwriters around.

A former frond and lesser known member of Fence Collective, James Yorkston is sticking to his strengths. Piano-driven tracks like 'Tortoise Regrets Hare' and 'Queen of Spain' draw comparisons to artists like Stephen Fretwell. Meanwhile Norma Waterson's sympathetic vocals contrast perfectly against the hungover lilt of Yorkston's weatherbeaten tones.

Critics have likened Yorkston to Nick Drake. Whilst there is a similar understated style, When The Haar Rolls In deserves attention on its own terms - as a pivotal album embedded with intelligence and tender words.  (Jane Dawson)
