Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

LESSER GONZALEZ ALVAREZ - WHY IS BEAR BILLOWING? PDF Print
Reviews - Music

Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez - Why Is Bear Billowing? Why is Bear Billowing? is a beautiful folk album that glides on the soft thermals of Alvarez's voice. There is an intrinsic
quirkiness that entwines the lyrics and is enhanced by the accompaniment of the resonant 6-string guitar and very little else.

Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez grew up appreciating the smaller things in life. Born in Cuba, he chased lightning bugs until he moved to the States where he turned to music and art as a way of interpreting the world.

Alvarez's influences include, Syd Barrett, Lou Reed and Donovan. He has a soulful similarity with Nick Drake, but where Nick Drake suffered from a poet's melancholy, Alvarez finds sanctuary in oddity, exemplified by his rendition of 'The Owl and the Pussycat'. (Jacqueline Wild)

Recommended tracks:
Track 1 - 'A Magic'
Track 8 - 'The Letter B'

Watch this short clip of Lesser playing live - it's a little rough around the edges in terms of recording quality, but will give you an idea of how beautiful his voice is:
