Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

LITTLE DRAGON - LITTLE DRAGON PDF Print
Reviews - Music

Little Dragon Despite the perpetual greyness of the skies in the last month, this album filters out of the speakers like a burst of sunshine. Little Dragon is stuffed full of of dreamy grooves compressed between heavy basslines, strings and minor-key piano.

The Gothenburg quartet's debut, the album flits from Zero 7/Air-like beats, to more immediate 'clubland' vibrancy and Soul2Soul bass-grooves. Think if you will, of a coquettish raver dancing to Radio 2 at 4am as the summer sun starts to filter through the curtains, and you're about there.

Opener 'Twice' (a soothing ballad), and 'Test' (a bass-led dance track complete with bleeps and hi-hat) were both former Rough Trade 'Single's Of The Week', and have been called "masterpieces of free thinking soul".

But the true thread that ties the album's disparate sounds together is the gorgeous, velvety, jazzy and undeniably soulful voice of Yokimi Nagano. It's like no other you've ever heard.

Little Dragon would be - if the rain ever stops - a wonderful condiment to a lazy, hazy BBQ's in the sun, sounding as it does like a long forgotten favourite album (albeit one that has been newly re-discovered). (Paul Crompton)
