MERKA - MAKE & DOTurbo engines, jazzy trumpets and electronic-quacking ducks.  There are many new noises in this music mix, which overall gives the album a sort of squashy texture.  Well this is electronic music, and the man behind Merka, Mark Ford, has pushed the boundaries since his debut album, Beserka

There are some old disco beats and synthesized sounds, modern techno-dance and retro 80s mixing influences; but it's the occasional drum and base that makes this album dynamic - it kicks in and drags you back into the imaginary cockpit of a super-future rocket.   Later in the album, mellow tracks take over, with repeating loops of acoustic guitars and orchestral bits and bobs.

When listening to Make & Do, I could imagine shapes and animations, only to discover it is actually supposed to be heard with visuals created by Mr. E Dawe, as the sounds and images play off one another.  All I know is if I heard this in a club, I'd want to be wearing a silver jumpsuit.  (Georgina Brown)
