Ninja Tune release an utterly absorbing compilation featuring 50 tunes from across three labels. If you have a spare week to get through them all, you'll find it's time well spent.

Ninja Tune has a reputation as one of the most credible independent labels in the UK.  Combined with micro labels Big Dada and Counter, they've produced a genre-hopping monster of an album as hard to define as it is easy to listen to. There are well-known acts like Mr Scruff, Roots Manuva and DJ Shadow, but the thing is you could pick any one of these songs and you're guaranteed to find something, at the very least, original.

Unpretentious and somewhat understated, You Don't Know: Ninja Cuts is the sound of the underground. What's more, it's in rude health. (Tim Hill)
