This almost unspeakably beautiful collection of children's lullabies from countries as diverse as Japan, China, India and even the Siberian republic of Tatarstan is such an album. Like The Langley Schools Music Project before it, Asian Dreamland has an effortless, honest simplicity, which will disarm and enchant even the most bitter, cynical and city-scarred of listeners. Much is often made of some music's
ability to break your heart; this album will go some way to mending it
back together. And, with a portion of profits going toward the
Worldwide Orphans Foundation, it might just help you get to sleep at
night. (Ambrose Fischer) |
