Compiled by DJ Shir Khan, this superb compilation is a reflection of the melting pot that is the electronic music scene at the moment and showcases all those artists who are bubbling up within it (move over 2manydjs!). Electro-dance-poppers Simian Mobile Disco and Justice are probably the most accurate representatives of the overall tone of the album but there are strong techno influences on CD1 too. Shit Robot’s ‘Wrong Galaxy’ and Crooker’s ‘Just Ghetto’ are two of many peak-time jaw-droppers on the harder half of the double pack.
Representing the best of a bad bunch of rappers from the saturated Grime scene are JME and Tinchy Strider, their sporadic, snappy delivery fits neatly over the broken-beat tracks they feature on.
Overall, the album is a testament to Shir Khan’s diverse musical knowledge - and a statement of his individuality. (Pat Stileman) |

Maximize is a high octane, bizarre journey that assertively straddles the lanes between electro, techno, new wave and punk.
