Berlin DJ, mixmaster and head honcho of electro label Exploited, Shir Khan brings us his second anthem-heavy album to claim his place as king of the electro jungle.
Shir Khan (lesser known reincarnation of Jungle Book's villainous tiger) proves to be as charming as he is deadly with Exploited, a baffling double CD menagerie of mixed and unmixed tunes from the likes of Bonde do Role, Siriusmo, Modeselecktor and Adam Sky.
Somehow, Shir Khan manages to show off his slick, savvy and undoubtedly savage electro-house imaginarium by juxtaposing the most unlikely components. At a break-neck speed, Khan rips through jazz saxophone, bangra, old school techno-rave and raga, enticing snake charmers and African tribesmen along for the ride.
Exploited will be an education and an acid trip for the uninitiated, and a reassuring hug for the electro-house initiated. Trust Shir Khan and listen to Exploited turn dance hybridism on its head. (Holly Wicks)
