Sigur Ros – With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play EndlesslyThe troubadours of post-rock prove themselves yet again through their most recent release, With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly. Nevertheless, with guitar reverb out and the brass section in, is it only a matter of time before songs from With A Buzz… turn into backing music for a documentary or, worse still, for a range of televisions?

Offering a less parochial package, their new album is likely to have a wider appeal than their portfolio pre-Takk. Not only was it recorded over three continents, but lead vocalist, Jónsi, sings in English and incorporates oddities like the London Oratory Boy’s Choir in Ára Bátur. Whilst fans of their Ágætis Byrjun era may be left feeling nauseous, most listeners will be subsumed by the perfect fragility of tracks like ‘Fljótavik’. With a Buzz… is not their most original album but is definitely worth a listen if you need to be reacquainted with your emotions. (Jane Dawson)
