Sonar KollektivSonar Kollektiv teeter between organic and electric, breathing new life into the movement they established a decade ago.

Ten Years, Who Cares? is a two disk compilation created by Berlin based independent record label Sonar, founded by Jazzanova and a host of DJs, graphic designers, artists and musicians.

Disk one contains a concoction of classic and contemporary Kollektiv tracks, ranging from trip-hop ('Micatone'), to minimal house ('Soulphiction'), to folk-tinged tunes ('Thief'). The Sonar Kollektiv have introduced the likes of Clara Hill, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Trickski to the industry, and it is their collaborations with such artists that stand out from the busy line-up here.

Disk two is a far more house-based affair, mixed by Jazzanova. These fourteen smoothly laced, club-orientated tracks integrate collaborations with label regulars such as Âme, Wahoo and Tokyo Black Star. Track listings for each disk differ greatly so the compilation doesn’t suffer from repetition, and the whole ensemble successfully straddles the space between the underground and over ground, presenting intelligent dance music with character.
