Singles albums are usually reserved for aging rock bands hoping to milk the Christmas cash cow by regurgitating tunes from days gone by.

So for a relatively new, not to mention niche band such as The Long Blondes, a singles album as their third album release comes as quite a surprise. The justification behind this is the four singles they released before they were well known, all of which are now out of reach.

Luckily for The Long Blondes, they started off strong and so Singles released on Angular Records is a great taste of their first forays into the limelight and with a couple of unreleased tracks, it’s a lot more than just a nostalgic look back.
 
This album is good for two groups. Those who know nothing about the band and want a taste of some hard hitting, stylish punk rock tunes; and die-hard fans who came to them too late to grab those precious first singles. (Niki Khoroushi)
