Stranger is evolving.

Hello. Exciting stuff has been happening here at Stranger Collective which means we need to make a glut of changes to our website.

Things are starting to take shape, but until we're ready to share what it's all about please feel free to look around the existing website. You'll be able to find out more about where the Collective has come from, what we've been up to over the last eight years and where we're headed.

See you on the other side...

TUNNG - GOOD ARROWS PDF Print
Reviews - Music

TunngThis is folktronica, Jim, but not as we know it. Lilting plucked guitars and brush drums it may have, but the third album from Tunng is a bit more pop than your average.

Apparently much more accessible than their previous outings and "more related to pop themes" (in their own words), Good Arrows is essentially an album of songs about everyday life, viewed with a sideways glance. It's all fire crackle samples, children shouting and overheard conversations, and basically, it's got enough experimentation to keep the folkists happy combined with a previously unseen splattering of inventive pop to cater for the mainstream market.

This combination can be heard to full effect on 'Bullets' with its inspired lyrics, and on 'Bricks', with its quirky slide guitar and organic Bontempi beat.

In short, Good Arrows is an immersive leftfield pop album that quietly seeps into your conscious, takes hold, then won't let go. Very well done.
