Port Eliot website 2011

Port Eliot Festival is the UK's most original, inspirational and downright decadent garden party. Stranger Collective have produced and edited the festival website, official programme and email newsletters for the last three years...with record ticket sales in 2011. We're now busy working to make 2012 even better!

We first met Lord and Lady St Germans - Port Eliot Festival's charismatic, colourful and endlessly inventive hosts - in 2007, when they invited Stranger magazine to have a tent at the festival. After experiencing this magical event firsthand (there really is nothing like it), we were thrilled when they approached us in autumn 2008 and asked Stranger Collective to help step the festival website and programme up a gear.

Website and e-marketing

Working closely with our friends at Dewsign (who built the Stranger website and worked on the iTunes festival sites with us) and A-Side Studio (Stranger magazine's art directors and long-time Stranger Collective collaborators), we helped plan the structure and content for the new Port Eliot Festival website (2009) and managed the build and propagation processes. We also led on the redesign of the website for 2011. Stranger Collective's copywriters write all the content for the website each year, including over 200 performer profile pages, and upload it all to the site - including pictures, videos and downloads.

Port Eliot e-newsletterIn the run up to the start of the festival each year we update the site on a regular basis as new performers are added to the line-up, writing news stories, interviewing artists for web features (such as Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry, Magnum photographer Martin Parr, iconic British fashion designer Barbara Hulanicki and leading sound artist Chris Watson), adding new photo and video content and uploading press releases/ high-resolution images for download in the press area.

Official festival programme

Stranger Collective also edit and produce the Port Eliot Festival guide (over 80 pages at the last count!), including:

  • Planning the pagination and editorial flow
  • Coming up with innovative feature ideas to complement Port Eliot's unique spirit and personality
  • Commissioning and writing all the content and sourcing all the images
  • Managing the (very tight!) production schedule
  • Working closely with the designers at A-Side Studio
